A face that could stop traffic…

Quite literally!
We were on one of our usual morning jaunts, coming back from the river and along our main road (which can get quite busy), when my husband noticed a car starting to slow, and the driver seemed to be looking at Kizzy. Then the driver stopped, got out of the car, and crossed to [...]

Messing about on the river…

Here are some pictures of Kizzy dipping her toes in the river today, also a couple of pictures of her with a rather large stick that she thought she could pick up…she will pick up a small stick and walk along with it, but I think this was out of her league…

When will I be famous…

Well, two weeks in and Kizzy seems to be becoming something of a local celebrity on the doggy walking trail.
The exchange of dialogue with the other owners is always the same on the first encounter -
‘Hello, oh she’s lovely! What is she?’
‘an Anatolian Shepherd’
‘ana what?’
‘Anatolian Shepherd, Kangal, Turkish dog’
‘Oh yes’
‘what is she again?’

By the next [...]

It’s a dog’s (social) life…

This evening was the first of Kizzy’s puppy socialisation classes, and we have to say that she behaved incredibly well
She is very good with other dogs, even Boxers who have swallowed a bucketful of springs (no kidding – it bounced continually through class!!)
The class, held in a village hall, was quite full but Kizzy took [...]

Dog Tired…

Kizzy has been getting a little over-excited and  ’nippy’ over the last few days…all puppies do it, but her size and strength mean the nips are a little more painful than they would be from a smaller 11 week old puppy! So, to nip this in the bud (pardon the pun) we have been trying [...]

These paws were made for walking…

Yay! Kizzy went for ‘walkies’ for the first time today, and was able to burn off a bit more of her energy than usual.
The first walk was taken this morning, at around 9.30am. Kizzy walked really well, obviously stopping for a sniff now and again, but kept a steady pace. We had a [...]

My funny valentine…

Well, it’s a week today since we brought Kizzy home and what a wonderful week it has been
She has settled in really quickly and remained confident with each new experience and challenge.
She enjoys ‘helping’ mummy with the housework, being particularly interested in the dishwasher and the odd stray sock from the tumble dryer.
She has [...]

Kizzy the brave…..

Today we took Kizzy to see the vet for her second set of injections, and for microchipping, and she was a little star!
The first trial we faced was getting her into the cage for transportation to the vets, and after the debacle on her first night home we were not expecting her to like it [...]

Scots of the Antarctic….

We received some photos from Tim today which are of another 2 puppies being delivered to their new homes (Kizzy’s brother Tayfun, aka ‘Titch’ and Kizzy’s sister, Tayyibe) and the trek through the snow that they had to encounter just to get off the farm in Scotland!
Just Taylan, Tayyib and Tayyar left now. Taylan is [...]

I think I’m gonna like it here….

Well, she’s here at last!
After 10 hours travelling, mostly sleeping for our part (and 2 lots of sicklies – once with Tim, and once with us) she arrived home yesterday and immediately began to discover her new surroundings, and the people in it, which included our daughter and her boyfriend – needless to say, they loved [...]
